Full-Field Deformation-Aided Compressive Failure Evaluation of Seawater Concrete Using Digital Image Correlation Technique

Seawater-based concrete has been increasingly employed in offshore construction engineering, especially where the materials and freshwater are inconvenient to access. In this paper, a full-field compressive deformation evaluation scheme was constructed by introducing digital image correlation (DIC) technique uniaxial compression test for four kinds of seawater fabricated ordinary Portland cement (OPC) calcium aluminate (CAC) when cured conditions 28 days, respectively. Digital speckle sequences decorated samples were simultaneously recorded during process, thus, displacement fields cubes mathematically obtained way registration algorithms. On basis, normal strain, shear volumetric strain all over front surface calculated with aid window method. addition, load-induced cracks quantitatively tracked from data. Subsequently, deformation-aided histogram percentage computed comparatively evaluate failure behavior groups concretes. It revealed that both OPC CAC-based concretes gained enhanced strength under curing condition, but OPC-S exhibited larger more concentrated local compared OPC-F whereas CAC-S adversely widely spread comparison CAC-F.
